California Dreaming: Part 2 - The French Laundry [August 11, 2017]

We opted for the Uber for this trip so we could ALL thoroughly enjoy ourselves instead of any of us having to curb our enthusiasm for such a grand adventure. It was a good choice though I think we were all more exhausted than drunk on the way home. What a great time we had!

As we were working through that amazing set of desserts, our server shot to the table and said, "If you'd really like the tour of the kitchen, we should go now, Chef will be leaving really soon!" 

Well... down went the forks, we all dabbed our mouths so we weren't walking around with dessert on our faces and off we shot to follow our server to the kitchens!

Yes, my friends, that's our very own Stephan standing there having a jovial foodie conversation with Mr. Thomas Keller himself. NO JOKE!

But just standing there in the kitchen wasn't the end! We got to go to the wine cellar. To say Tara was in heaven is likely a TINY understatement. She and Synda swooned over the aisles of wine and the amazing stories about the stolen (and subsequently returned by the long arm of the law) bottles of wine, the way they order and manage the collection, the stories of the expansion of this area of the restaurant. We completed our evening with a stroll around to the front again and took photos of the special function/private dining room and a view of their amazing kitchen from the outside.

As if our amazing evening wasn't grand enough, when we returned from The French Laundry back to our AirBnB home away from home... Stephan had another surprise waiting from our hostess!

Grateful for the sentiment but filled to the gills from our food adventure, we brought that in and placed it in the fridge for the next day's trial. What an amazing evening!
